In a joint interview, Sarah and Herb Grossman recall how they first met when they were 21 and 24 years old, respectively. Herb discusses his education, his time in the U.S. Army and entering the family business, Robbins Furniture formerly located on New Castle Street in Butler, Pa. He reminisces about growing up in New Castle. Sarah recalls her family’s immigration from Lithuania to the United States through the Galveston Movement. She shares that she grew up in Carlisle, Pa., attended the high holidays at a synagogue in Harrisburg each year, and discusses her family’s religious practices. The Grossman’s recall the antisemitism they faced in Butler.
