The Kosher Dill was a kosher-style restaurant at 206 N. Highland Ave. in East Liberty. It opened in August 1974, taking over the location previously occupied by Gammons. It operated at least into early 1975, according to advertisements in the local Jewish press.
The Kosher Dill was operated by Reva and Fred Kushner. Reva (Blumenthal) Kushner was a well-known caterer within the local Jewish community. Over the course of her career, she was the chef and caterer at B’nai Israel Congregation in East Liberty, the manager of the kitchen at the B’nai B’rith Hillel house in Oakland, and the manager of food services at the Jewish Community Center’s Henry Kaufmann Family Recreation Park in Monroeville. Fred Kushner was long-time proprietor of Fox Café in Shadyside.
