The Ellwood City section of the National Council of Jewish Women was established in 1928 with the help of the chapter in nearby New Castle. According to this list of “obligations,” the organization saw itself as both an advocate for the Jewish community and a liaison to the wider community of civic organizations in Ellwood City, Pa.
