In his interview, Larry Berg discusses his family’s Russian lineage and immigration to the United States. He reminisces about growing up in Manhattan and the antisemitism he faced as both a child and an adult living in Butler, Pa. Berg shares that although his family only attended synagogue once a year for the high holidays, they did keep a kosher home. He attended Hebrew school and made his bar mitzvah. He then discusses his education and radio career including the purchase of the WBUT radio station in Butler in 1964 and his tenure with WISR radio. Berg also discusses his family’s move to Butler and their subsequent involvement with Congregation B’nai Abraham.
