A project of the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center
A crowd lining up outside the Heinz Ocean Pier, which the H. J. Heinz Company maintained along the Atlantic City boardwalk from 1899 until 1944, when a hurricane destroyed the facility. Also known as “The Crystal Palace by the Sea” or “The Sea Shore Home of the 57 Varieties,” the pier included art galleries, a reading room and regular demonstrations and lectures.
