Temple B’nai Israel dedicated a synagogue on Fifth Street in East Liverpool, Ohio, in 1922. The congregation became known as Beth Shalom in 1962, after merging with nearby B’nai Jacob. The sanctuary included a bima (dais) with seating for the rabbi and prominent or honored congregants and a loft for a choir and organist. Although not shown in this photograph, the loft once included a façade of pipes to give the impression of a pipe organ.
