Samuel Silverstein was a tailor who made uniforms for the Russian Army. He immigrated to New Kensington, Pa., in 1907. His wife, Libby Marcus Silverstein, joined him soon after. They chose Western Pennsylvania to be close to her brothers Isaac and Sam Marcus.
Samuel and Libby Silverstein had two children, Ida and Rose. Rose Silverstein (c.1910-2009) later married Leon Noon (c.1899-1971), a salesman who immigrated to the United States from Lithuania.
