After immigrating to western Pennsylvania from Hungary, Ben Heisler (c.1892-1973) opened a grocery store at the corner of Colfax and Enterprise streets in McKeesport, Pa. He married Ella Fogel (c.1895-1962), who was also from Hungary. The Heislers and their three children, Flora, Sydney and Sarah, attended Congregation Gemilas Chesed.
Flora Heisler married Henry Hershkovitz of McKeesport.
Sydney and his wife Barbara Heisler lived in Pittsburgh with their children. He became a certified public accountant and provided financial services. He was also president of Young People’s Synagogue in Squirrel Hill. Barbara Heisler was the director of nursing for the Riverview Center for Jewish Seniors.
Sarah Heisler married Hilliard Arrowood. They raised their family in Asheville, N.C., where she was a legal secretary and volunteered for local organizations.
