Samuel Floersheim

Samuel Floersheim and Pauline Wertheimer immigrated separately to Pittsburgh from western Germany in the 1850s. They were married at Rodef Shalom in 1864.
Samuel Floersheim (1836-1895) sold tobacco before becoming a bookkeeper and notary public in the 1870s. He was also associated with the firm A. Guckenheimer & Brothers, owned by relatives of his wife. He was an enthusiast of the arts and was well known in Pittsburgh musical and literary circles, especially within the German immigrant community. He was a founder of the Art Society and considered one of the best amateur violinists in the city.
Pauline Floersheim (c.1841-1926) was the daughter of Moses and Bella Wertheimer and a cousin of Pauline Frank. They had four children, Berthold, Bertha, Edna and Belle.
Berthold Floersheim was an executive in the steel industry. Bertha Floersheim married Enoch Rauh. She was known for her volunteer community work and was the long-time president of the National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburgh Section. She was appointed the director of Pittburgh’s Department of Public Welfare. Edna Floersheim married Albert J. Bamberger of Philadelphia. Belle Floersheim also lived in Philadelphia.
