A project of the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center
Under the supervision of Rabbi Moses Sivitz, Dora Leyton and a group of women founded the Bickur Cholim Society in 1912. The volunteer organization visited sick, injured and aged patients around Pittsburgh, paving the way for the Bickur Cholim Convalescent and Nursing Home, a transition facility started in the East End in 1954.
