Cherry Valley is a borough in Butler County. It was incorporated out of a section of Venango Township in 1909, becoming one of the smallest boroughs in the state[1]Uram, Austin. “Cherry Valley history a story of defiance, ingenuity,” Butler Eagle, April 10, 2023 (online)..

The area included in Cherry Valley was home to at least three Jewish families between 1907 and the early 1920s: Katz (Jacob M. Katz and Albert Katz), Sacks (Charles Sacks, Simon Sacks, and Jack Sacks) and Kharfen (Harry and Anna H. (Barron) Kharfen).
