Alfred H. Bennett (1891-1959) was a clothing manufacturer who maintained an artistic practice. He began painting as a hobby in the late 1920s and gained local attention in 1933 when he won an award at the annual Associated Artists of Pittsburgh exhibition for best group of paintings. He exhibited in the annual show through the 1930s and was elected onto the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh board. In the mid-1940s, he donated a painting “Prayers to the New Moon” to Rodef Shalom Congregation in memory of his parents.
