Joseph Swartz and Elizabeth (Krammer) Swartz of Cleveland, Ohio had three children, Howard (1920-2004), Eleanor and Mildred.
Joseph Swartz worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and transferred often to different cities. Howard Swartz attended Roosevelt Junior High School in Cleveland, Ohio before transferring to Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh.[1]Howard Swartz School material, Lynne and Blair Jacobson Family Papers and Photographs [MSS 1221] When the family was transferred to Tulsa, Ok., Howard stayed in Pittsburgh to attend the University of Pittsburgh and stayed with cousins. While attending college, he met his future wife, Shiffie Eisenfeld (1921-1979). His sister Mildred Swartz served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II.
Howard and Sylvia Swartz had two daughters, Lynne (b.1943) and Eileen (1949-1985). Lynne Swartz graduated from Colfax Elementary School, Taylor Allderdice High School, and Chatham College (later Chatham University). Lynne Swartz married Blair Jacobson in 1965. They had two children, Larry and Teddi.
