Hyman and Miriam Ginsberg were active members of the Jewish community of Pittsburgh.

Hyman Ginsberg (1924-2014) was born in the Highland Park neighborhood of the East End to Sam Ginsberg and Charlotte Ginsberg, who had immigrated from Poland. Hyman graduated from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in 1948. He started his career as a pharmacist. He later joined the family business as a scrap metal dealer and eventually became owner of Quality Metal Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and liberating a concentration camp in Poland. He was past president of Adath Jeshurun Congregation and member of Beth Shalom Congregation. He was also an avid table tennis player at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh.

Miriam “Mimi” Seiner (1927-2021) was born in Pittsburgh to Thomas Seiner (1893-1980) and Jennie Seiner (1900-1980). She graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and the University of Pittsburgh (1948), where she was president of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority and a member of the Mortar Board organization. She was active in Hadassah, serving as president of the Aviva Group and the entire Pittsburgh chapter. She was a founding member of Community Day School’s Grandparent’s Association, a volunteer at Family House, and a student at the Florence Melton Adult-Mini School. She was honored during the Jewish Association on Aging’s annual “Eight Over Eighty” event in 2007. Miriam Seiner married Hyman Ginsberg in 1948 with Rabbi Goodman A. Rose officiating. Miriam and Hyman Ginsberg had four children, Jay, Ellen, Sam, and David.
