Camp Kadimah was a co-educational Jewish summer camp on Glade Run Creek near Evans City, Pa. In addition to indoor and outdoor recreational activities, the camp offered classes in “Hebrew, Jewish history, social problems, community life, paletinography, Sabbath observance, singing, and dramatics,” and it advertised kosher observance. Camp Kadimah was closely associated with Zionist activities throughout the Pittsburgh area and hosted programs over the years from the Poale Zion, Zionist Youth Council, Jewish National Fund, Hadassah, local Labor Zionist organizations, and Habonim.
Solomon and Hannah Osheroff opened Camp Kadimah in 1938. They expanded the camp for the 1947 season with a new recreation hall and canteen, an enlarged crafts shop, and additional programs. Staff in these years included John H. Irwin, Herbert A. Lewis, and Anne R. Freed. After Solomon Osheroff died in 1954, Hannah Solomon oversaw the camp. She hired Enoch Sisselsky, Steven Beeling, Charles Bluestone, and Pat Bluestone.
The Hebrew Institute purchased Camp Kadimah in 1958 for its new all-day camp.
