Hurwitz and Blistein Family Papers and Photographs [MSS 1241]

Aaron Girshevich Blistein (1880-1943) and Alice “Elkie” Blistein (1884-1961) lived in present-day Ukraine. They had five children, Edward (1905-1985), Harry (d.1906), Mitchell (1907-1999), Louis (1909-1909), and Lilian (1913-1998). The family immigrated to Rhode Island in 1906 and later came to Pittsburgh, where Aaron Blistein started Blistein & Karlen at 208 21st Street in the Strip District. Lilian Blistein married Alexander Hurwitz (1910-1994) of Butler, Pa. on June 20, 1937. They had one child, Aaron M. Hurwitz (b.1946.)
