In the late 1950s, Rabbi Robert Bergman of Temple Beth Israel in Sharon launched a four-year effort to overhaul the religious school. The biggest change involved merging the Hebrew School and religious school. By the second year, younger classes had shown a marked improvement in Hebrew skills.
