By 1930, Beth Shalom Congregation was the second largest Jewish congregation in Pittsburgh and broke ground on an addition to its synagogue at the corner of Beacon Street and Shady Avenue in Squirrel Hill. In this Jewish Criterion photograph, congregant Jacob Aronson cements the cornerstone of the addition.
