These minutes from Tifereth Israel board meetings in 1935 show the congregation still using Yiddish to conduct business and filling a ledger volume from back to front to accommodate the direction of Hebrew characters. The founders and early members of the congregation were immigrants, many from the Vilna province of Lithuania.
