Beth Israel Center members unanimously voted to purchase five acres of land on Gill Hall Road for $20,000 to use for a new synagogue. The purchase price was beyond the immediate financial wherewithal of the congregation, prompting renewed interest in a fundraising campaign. President Dr. Jacques L Weiss coined the slogan “Your Building on Your Land.”
