A group of Jewish families in the South Hills decided in mid-1958 to form a congregation for families “in the vicinity of Pleasant Hills, Baldwin, Bethel, Whitehall, Brentwood and nearby communities.” At their initial meeting, held in the Pleasant Hills Borough Building, they discussed plans to form a Sunday School, hold High Holiday services and conduct a membership drive.
