The beginnings of the Jewish community of Connellsville, Pa. are uncertain, but this notice in the Jewish Criterion reports that Rabbi Michael Fried of Congregation Tree of Life in Pittsburgh organized a Jewish Religious Society and an associated religious school in the borough about 1901.
