The Jewish communities in neighboring Leechberg and Vandergift held separate services until about 1950, when the two communities merged and began meeting in the VFW Hall in Leechburg. The Kiski Valley community operated a synagogue until about 1970, when the congregation merged with Beth Jacob Congregation in nearby New Kensington.
