After paying off the mortgage for its Moody Avenue synagogue, Tifereth Israel held a special ceremony to burn symbolically the mortgage documents. Rabbi Bernard Poupko of Shaare Torah Congregation in Pittsburgh gave the keynote address at the ceremony.
