A group of Jewish families in the South Hills began meeting in mid-1958 for the purposes of forming a congregation. As the “South Hills Jewish Community Center,” they started a monthly bulletin to record and promote their efforts. The surviving collection begins with the fourth issue, where the group decided to call itself Beth Israel Center.
