The members of Congregation B’nai Israel in East Liverpool voted in the early 1960s to merge with nearby Congregation B’nai Jacob. The new congregation was initially going to be called B’nai Israel Jacob but was later changed to Congregation Beth Shalom, meaning “House of Peace.”
